COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Our community education programs are literacy learning and preparation for the GED® diploma, job support to help people with getting jobs and computer classroom training to enhance computer literacy skills.
COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY
Our Computer Literacy Program offers classes in; Computer Basics, Internet and Email, Internet safety, Windows 11, and Telehealth. The advanced classes offer the Microsoft Office Programs; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. It is our mission to provide digital literacy to the community for everyone to have information technology capacity to participate in today’s culture of employment, learning, and accessing services.
We are a Northstar Digital Literacy Technology Training Center. Northstar is a digital literacy skills building program that will assist with computer and internet training for daily life, education, and employment. Northstar provides free assessments and programs for testing, skill building, and certificates on successful completion.
ADULT LITERACY/GED®
TBC offers free sessions for building reading skills for adults and children. If you are interested in improving your reading and or math skills, we have a program for you. Improving your reading skills can help you at work and with other day to day activities, and children can advance their skills at school. The schedule is flexible Monday thru Thursday. Sessions are one-on-one tutoring for 1 to 2 hrs. Our Adult Literacy/GED Program provides basic education and preparation for the GED® diploma. Course preparation is for the official GED® and HiSet® high school diploma equivalency tests.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
The Thea Bowman Center is working to assist with job placement to various types of employment including part time employment for seniors. We can connect you to jobs that start with paid training programs that may place you in a permanent position to build a career. Many of the companies may not require a high school diploma for hiring. If you are interested in the manufacturing industry, learning a trade, and healthcare, please contact us.
