Adult Basic Education - General Educational Development (GED)

As a tutor you’ll receive training in working with adult learners and in using the Center’s materials and procedures.
During the 2-hour class time you’ll move throughout the room, asking students if they need help or coming to someone’s aid when asked.
Sometimes the “tutoring” merely involves answering a student’s question or grading some work. At other times you may spend the entire session with one student, working through specific materials.
Many materials at all levels in each major area, including GED handbooks, are available.
Tutors work as a team. If one can’t figure out a difficult problem, for example, the other tutors are there to help.
Tutors are encouraged to write helpful comments on the student’s daily records.
