Adult Basic Education - General Educational Development (GED)
- As a tutor you’ll receive training in working with adult learners and in using the Center’s materials and procedures.
- During the 2-hour class time you’ll move throughout the room, asking students if they need help or coming to someone’s aid when asked.
- Sometimes the “tutoring” merely involves answering a student’s question or grading some work. At other times you may spend the entire session with one student, working through specific materials.
- Many materials at all levels in each major area, including GED handbooks, are available.
- Tutors work as a team. If one can’t figure out a difficult problem, for example, the other tutors are there to help.
- Tutors are encouraged to write helpful comments on the student’s daily records.
